Alabama CPAs must complete 40 hours of CPE every fiscal year (October 1 to September 30) rather than a multi-year cycle, and hours do not carry over. At least 8 of the 40 hours must be in accounting and auditing, at least 2 hours must be a qualifying ethics course, and no more than 12 hours can come from personal-development topics.
