Wyoming CPA CPE Requirements: How Many Hours, By When

How much continuing professional education a Wyoming CPA actually needs — sourced the same way every fact on this site is: a board page plus the codified rule itself, never a guess.

CPE Hour Requirement
120 hours every 3 years
Source of record 061-5 Wyo. Code R. § 5-3 (Board of CPAs Rules, Chapter 5) read the rule →

Wyoming certificate holders must complete 120 CPE credits over a rolling 3-year period once fully phased in (0 credits owed at the first renewal, 60 credits over the first 2 years at the second renewal, then 120 over 3 years at every subsequent renewal). At least 66% of required hours (80 of 120) must be in technical subject categories. Separately, all four ethics credits must be completed at least once every 3-year period, all four in the same calendar year, using a Board-approved course that includes a Wyoming statutes-and-rules element. Non-obvious trap: for a brand-new certificate holder, the 4-hour Wyoming ethics course is due within 6 months of the initial permit -- a much faster, separate deadline from the standard 3-year ethics cycle that applies afterward. Confirmed independently by the codified rule text (Chapter 5, §5-3, via Cornell LII) and the Board of CPAs' own CPE page (cpaboard.wyo.gov).
