Vermont runs a biennial (2-year) CPE cycle, August 1 - July 31 of odd-numbered renewal years: a licensee renewing for a full cycle needs 80 hours of CPE, including at least 4 hours of ethics and at least 8 hours of accounting and auditing. Up to 10 hours may carry over into the next biennium, but carryover hours cannot be used to satisfy the ethics or accounting/auditing minimums. Trap: a licensee renewing after only part of a cycle (not by endorsement) instead owes 40 hours for each full year the license was held, per Rule 9.1(b) -- the flat 80-hour figure only applies to a full 2-year cycle.
