Florida CPA CPE Requirements: How Many Hours, By When

How much continuing professional education a Florida CPA actually needs — sourced the same way every fact on this site is: a board page, plus the codified rule itself where we could confirm it against primary law, clearly labelled where we could only confirm it against the board's own page, never a guess.

80 hours per 2-year re-establishment period, no explicit annual minimum in the codified rule itself. Within the 80: at least 8 hours accounting/auditing, at least 4 hours Board-approved ethics (a review of Chapters 455 and 473, Florida Statutes, and related rules), and no more than 20 hours in behavioral subjects. Reporting deadline is July 31 prior to the biennial renewal -- through September 29, 2026. Effective September 30, 2026, the reporting deadline moves to December 31 (Fla. Admin. Code R. 61H1-33.003, amended, tid=31362348); the extension mechanic in the rule also changes from submitting proof of CPE completion to actually completing the extra hours. This page will be updated to reflect the new date once it takes effect.
